Liberal Bias in the Media Essay Example For Students

Liberal Bias in the Media Essay Today it seems almost impossible to get a straightforward answer on any major topic from the media. All sources of media have a specific audience that they are intending to hear or view the information that they have prepared, therefore they will cut bits and pieces out so that only the message they are trying to get across will be received. So indeed there is a media bias, and yes it more often than not slants towards the liberal view point, as many reporters and journalists have liberal views themselves. Journalists and reporters for the major networks will strongly denounce the suggestion that they favor of one side or the other when it comes to being politically biased. On the other hand there are other media sources that come right out and say they are â€Å"Liberal Intelligence† such as â€Å"The American Prospect†. In another article from the American Prospect website, they talk about border security and how good Obama and the Democrats are doing at making the border laws stricter. In the article they say, â€Å"In the last two years, President Barack Obama has introduced border-enforcement policies that are stricter than those of his predecessors, leading to record number of deportations and massive spending on security resources (American Prospect).† Never once do they mention that the border security has not been as large of an issue in the past, and the government was more worried about the terrorism from 9/11 and our economic crisis. This example shows how a publication that is considered to be more to the left, favors democrats by showing them in a more positive light. Then there are other media sources may say they are not liberal, but they hire liberal reporters and writers to get their news out. â€Å"The elephant in . .ing Economists. Research Design Example Paper

Research Design Example PaperBefore you can begin your research in any area of the creative process, there is always a need for a research design example paper. There are various reasons why you would want to create a design study before beginning to design your designs. Many times it will be something that is overlooked by the designer, as they begin their work, and need a refresher course. It is common to use an example paper, however many designers have started to eschew it due to the lack of information, therefore creating them unnecessary. Do not allow this to happen to you. It is a good idea to have one created. There are various benefits of doing so, as well as some of the problems that need to be overcome, while getting started in this area. The first reason to use an example paper is that it gives certain things, such as lettering a chance to look more professional. This helps to give the designer a little bit of a heads up when they begin to design for themselves. Usually the designer has no idea what this looks like. Having this paper to work from is a real time saver. It is very important to get used to seeing these things. When you do decide to use a paper for research, make sure that you know what you are doing. This means that you take the time to check and see if you understand what it is you are doing. For example, are you simply creating the space for the word, which is the main keyword? Or are you doing other things such as re-doing fonts, etc. ?If you are only creating the space for the keyword, the research design example paper will give you an idea of how to do that. Have a look at the word, and identify if there is a way to properly capitalize it or not. Also, note where you will be putting the headline and will it fit on the page? Are the headlines part of the body of the letter, or is the entire body considered the headline? Then identify whether the headings are going to go all the way to the left or all the way to the right of the word, or somewhere in between. When you are designing a letter, also take into consideration the height and width of the letter. You may also want to make sure that you have an idea of the heading size as well. What will you do with the headline? Will you write it out or type it out? Do you want the headline to be printed only on the letter itself, or would you like it to be part of the body of the letter? As you are doing the research design example paper for your own designs, be sure to always look at things a little closer. Of course, you will also need to look at what other people are doing in the same industry. Always look at what they are doing, and try to get a feel for the things that they are doing.Take the time to think about what words to include on your research design example paper. Also keep in mind what words you do not want to include on the paper. This includes using certain words that are not commonly used or even combining them together into something new and unique. Just as a basic idea is nice, it is a good idea to get a little creative.

Essay Writing - Using Suffering and Emotion to Create Strong Argumentation

Essay Writing - Using Suffering and Emotion to Create Strong ArgumentationWhen you are writing an argumentative essay, the word 'Suffering' can give you a lot of negative connotations. You may not realize that even if you are writing an argumentative essay, it is still possible to present a good argument in your essay as well.I think you should be realistic about what it means to suffer when you have exceptional events occur. For example, a loved one passes away. You may find yourself experiencing a range of emotions that range from grief to anger to sadness to fear to anger again and so on. Or you may experience all of these emotions and more. Now we can think about the pain that has been brought on by this occasion and the anguish that has been placed upon you. But let's take a look at some thoughts about the meaning of suffering and some ways to help your argument about this issue in your essay. Suffering, as we all know, means being subjected to pain and suffering and experiencing other forms of abuse. And that is what we are talking about when we talk about suffering.Understanding these ideas is very important for you to know. The way I see it, when you write your essay on suffering and you fail to use a different way of presenting the same issue, you are just putting down the mental framework that the writer of your essay has created. And that writer has probably placed all of the various types of feeling and the various types of emotion on suffering and just labeled it as such. The truth is, all feelings and emotions exist on a spectrum. Some are much more extreme than others and you need to recognize the fact that all feelings and emotions exist on a spectrum. This makes sense when you are discussing the plight of veterans and the essence of the human condition iswhen people feel as though they have been treated unfairly. Or when someone feels that they are treated badly when they are born in a poor country. What you need to understand is that the existen ce of the feeling does not make it true or accurate to describe the situation as suffering. So if you are having trouble with using the right words to describe the topic, let me help you out. Suffering can mean several things to you. Let's say that you feel like you are being abused and you are really getting nowhere trying to handle your feelings and you are actually being hurt by this situation. The most appropriate way to describe that situation is that the sufferer of the abuse is suffering. Suffering is something that exists on a spectrum.

Indian Music Essays - Punjabi People, Indian Muslims, Music Of India

Indian Music 1) Music is the organisation of sounds with some degree of rhythm, melody, and harmony. 2) Popular Music is music produced for and sold to a broad audience. Indian popular music, which is most strongly influenced by Indian folk music is shaped by social, economic, and technological forces. Popular music is closely linked to the social identity of its performers and audiences. 3) Indian Popular Music has one of the world's most extensive popular music industries. Most Indian popular music is associated with the commercial film industry, centred on Mumbai, in which song-and-dance scenes are inserted into plots. 4) Film songs are heard all over India, in city streets and even in remote villages, and have also become one of the country's major cultural exports. It is a remarkably eclectic genre, borrowing freely from other Indian musics and popular music's from around the world, including some Western harmonic procedures. 5) Both Indian cinema and its film music are widely popular elsewhere in the developing world, from Africa and the Middle East to Eastern Europe and other parts of Asia. 6) While it is difficult to generalize about such a vast and diverse entity, certain observations can be made about Indian popular music. Like classical Indian music and Indian folk music, it is overwhelmingly monophonic: melodies are sung or played solo, rather than in harmony with another singer. 7) The Indian music industry got off to an early start with the production of local recordings in 1901. By the 1950s the film industry had grown phenomenally, and soon became the largest in the world, producing some 700-feature films annually. Music directors like Naushad and S. D. Burman composed scores for hundreds of films, while top singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi, and Kishore Kumar have each recorded several thousand film songs. Most were sentimental love songs designed to fit the romantic and often escapist cinematic melodramas. 8) In the late 1970s and early 1980s the spread of cheap audio cassette players dramatically restructured the popular music industry. Since cassettes and cassette players are so cheap, portable, and durable, many millions of poorer rural consumers could afford them and thus enter the popular music market. As a result the popular music industry has become much more decentralized, and its products much more diverse in terms of style, language, and subject matter. 9) Indian popular music has continued to evolve and thrive. Western influence remains strong, and many film music composers borrow pop melodies from the West. Nevertheless, the thriving cottage-industry cassette producers still rely heavily on regional folk music for inspiration and ideas. In the United Kingdom, South Asians of Punjabi descent have popularized a dynamic hybrid style called bhangra, which typically combines Punjabi folk melodies with elements of disco, techno-pop, and dance-hall reggae. 10) I made a survey in which I found out that 90 % of the people whether they are of the new generation or the old say that music has lost its sentimental values. It is no longer made the way it used to be. These days the focus is not in giving a message but just to give some typical masala or dance sequence in the film. Where as the remaining 10 % say that the trends and traditional values are changing and in this ever changing world one must keep up to date. 11) I am in favour of both the groups because I think that Song like "jab tak rahe ga samse main aloo" or "dil ke gate ki name plate per likha hai tera nam" are degrading the Indian music industry. But these are the exceptions people like Javed Akhter,A.R. Rehman Yash Chopra and so many others are still there who respect the values of Indian music and cenima and make movies like dil se kuch kuch hota hai dil to pagal hai hum apke hai kaun. These are only a few of the indian movies which depict the actual Indian sentiments.

Sight Vocabulary for Word Recognition

Sight Vocabulary for Word Recognition Learning the sight words for word recognition is critical for reading success. The majority of the words used in written English follow certain rules which govern the relationship between the symbols and the sounds. We call those phonics. Unfortunately, the words we use most frequently are irregular, and they are not spelled the way they sound, words like said, these and thought. These we call sight words, because you need to be able to recognize them immediately. Students who struggle with text really struggle with sight vocabulary. Learning sight vocabulary requires teaching and frequent re-teaching, as well as lots and lots of practice recognizing the words. Dolch High-Frequency Words There are couple lists, the Fry High-Frequency List, made up of 600 words, and the Dolch High-Frequency Words  made up of 220 high-frequency words and 95 nouns frequently found in childrens books. The Fry list is ranked from most frequently used to least frequently used (of the 600 words, not all 240,000 or so according to Boston University. The Dolch words represent about 75% of all the words we encounter in writing. Direct Instruction Programs, like Wilson Reading or SRA, teach some sight vocabulary in each lesson and are sure that students see those words as they are learning to decode the regular words which conform to the phonetic rules of English. Using the Dolch High-Frequency Words The word lists for Dolch High-Frequency Words begin with pre-primer words, the words most frequently used to glue together the nouns and verbs we use to express ourselves. There are five levels and a noun list: Pre-primer, Primer, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and Nouns. Children should have all of the Dolch Words mastered before they begin second grade. Assessment: The first step is to simply present the words, beginning with the pre-primer words on flash cards (follow this link) and testing until a student can recognize no more than 80% of the words on each level list. Check off the words the students know on the checklists provided. Practice in Context: Leveled reading programs, such as Reading A-Z or SRA will provide lists of sight vocabulary and lists of new vocabulary either on the cover or on the page (Reading A-Z) where the item is found. Use the checklists to track which words you are using as you complete each list. These checklists can also be used to write and monitor IEP goals. There are enough columns to collect data over several weeks. Drill and Games The flashcards can also be used for practice as well as games or concentration. Dolch Around the World: Present pairs of students each of the flashcards. When a child gets it right, he or she moves on to the next student and they compete to recognize the card first.Dolch Concentration: Have two sets of cards. Have students play with a limited number of cards including some you want them to learn.Dolch Snap: Have students time each other with a stopwatch, to see who can read them the quickest. Dolch High-Frequency IEP Goals When presented with flash cards, John will read 32 of 42 (80%) of Pre-primer High Frequency (Dolch) Words, 3 of 4 consecutive trials. When presented with flash cards, Susan will read 90% (36) of the First Grade Dolch Words, 3 out of 4 consecutive trials.
